Finding a narrator has been something of an adventure. After researching multiple narrators, we spoke with with several excellent narrators (or their agents). One had very high rates and confusing cost estimates. Another had no availability before 2026, but did recommend some colleagues.
John was one of those recommendations. There were lower cost options, but feedback from friends and ARC readers preferred John. Zmancy Books strives to provide the best quality possible for readers (and listeners), so John will be our narrator for this project.

Our initial sales push has had some success, and we’re ranking well in some of the smaller New Release categories. The best rank so far is #12 in Teen and Young Adult Epic Fantasy, though I want to stress that this book is not just for teens! Because Amazon has no way to know which category made the sale, only that a sale was made, and we are suitable for this category (as well as the adult categories), we are ranking well here.

We’re done crossing our I’s and dotting our T’s! We’ve set a target release date. We will be submitting for publication on Amazon with the target of having the book become available on 7/25/2023. This process involves an approval by Amazon, so if they spot something like a bleed margin out of place or don’t like our back cover font, it could still be delayed. However, if all goes well, the book should be available in time to take with you for your vacation (if you’re one of the many folks who take their vacation in August) or for your end-of-summer reading enjoyment.
Good news! We now have our LCCN from the Library of Congress (It’s 2023942010). That’s the last change to the final PDF, and now we only have to get a few marketing things in place, such as a social media accounts, Good Reads page, etc.

Baby in a basket delivered under mysterious circumstances, Johnny is raised unaware of his heritage by a knight and his wife on the outskirts of a kingdom in a town constantly at war with elves. All he wants is to be a knight like his father, but death and intrigue interfere.
The unseen machinations of others pull him in new directions, and soon he finds himself on a path he never dreamed of, apprentice to a wizard and friends with an elf. Either of these would make him an outcast or worse if exposed.
He yearns for stability and to take control of his own life. It doesn’t help that he turns out to have the most feared magical talent of all: Metamancy, the magic of altering magic itself.
This book text and cover are complete. We are currently only waiting for some technical details, such as the assignment of an LCCN by the Library of Congress, and the coordination of our marketing strategy.
